not all controllers /keyboards have midi din5 or UsbHost(printer connector) new gear have a usb-c connector for midi+audio(send and recieve) or just usbA-out , but always they need a USB Host-pc/tablet/phone No way you can chain keyboards/controllers without a PC these day's as we had with the origine din5 in/out/thru midi .It also is a short of midi settings inside these instruments to set rx/tx /thru channels. we realy need more solutions like the Go-twin for all OS platforms(windows/ IOS/android) and midi din5/usb/TRS include power-delivery(5volt)

Is it possible to set up a custom button for a single effect (such as tape echo) useable on any scene at any time? ?

Is there a mirror internal keyboard option? Say you had a Fantom 6 or 7 and you wanted to hookup a 88 note weighted controller and have it mimic the internal keyboard without having to setup all the layers and splits on it.

That’s all great, but is there a way the external instrument can use the Fantom effects, and how do you do that. Also I sequenced an external sound but how do you get this permanently to audio. If you unplug the external instrument, the sequence reverts to the Fantom sound

So the Zencore sounds are better than the Super Natural Sounds from the Integra 7, and Jupiter 80? So what happens if you layer something like this Fantom with the Integra 7? Or do we need to?

So if I play the layered zones 1-3 with one hand and want to prepare a 4th sound while playing, how can I do it? Intuitivly pressing the "select zone 4"-Button in purpose of editing and preparing the sound would fail, because the other zones wouldnt play while the 4th zone is selected. This is strange. How can I prepare the 4th zone instead while playing?

This was super helpful! I was a bit confused when I first fired up my Fantom and saw nothing in MIDI Monitor. I followed your video to setup an empty "MIDI only" scene with foot pedals mapped. It's pretty cool, I just got the Fantom and it's amazing how much it can do!

13:35 it's not weird at all since computers are 0 based, that is to say "under the hood" most if not all things (registers, arrays etc...) in a computer start with 0 as the first entry or position.

Still confused by Roland! Jupiter X has the system 8 type sounds, but lacks the workstation tools. Fantom 6 has killer workstation features, but no the same quality as System 8 or Jupiter X. I was really hoping The Fantom would have came with the ACB chips built in. I just keep seeing glorified laptops built into a midi controller vs. true proprietary purpose built chip tech. It's hard to justify the prices of Fantoms, Even the Korg Kronos. You can still buy a quality laptop, a VERY nice midi controller keyboard, and mostly free VST and even DAW software and be way ahead of the game in ability and flexibility. Not to mention, less than half the price! I keep seeing folks falling for this whole 'hardware is better' idea! Guess what, you are using almost the exact same software based DAW environment. There's no HARDWARE being dedicated to produce sounds. Software created sound, not chip based tech! We deserve to understand what we are buying vs what we THINK we are buying. I've gone full cycle many times. DAW/ Hardware, Hybrid, Back to DAW. In 2024, I'm realizing that most companies have taken the easy money grab! It's just custom midi control interfaces, off the shelf CPUs, a software team to program, rinse and repeat. Very few companies are making anything NEW. Think that is why Analog made such a comeback and is in demand. It's actual hardware instead of more software! You get something for your money. SOLID STATE TECH. vs. software in a box.

Hi, first of all thank you for this great how-to series. Before I finally got my Fantom-07 two days ago, I had already spent a few nights here in UA-cam's Fantom boot camp. So I'm getting along pretty well with setting up my personal configuration, scenes etc., but one thing really annoys me: After every restart, the 'Audio In' setting (I'm constantly using the Mic input for vocals) is gone and has to be set again. Unfortunately, Roland is not very helpful at that point so, do you know a way to permanently save the 'Audio In' setting?

Hey ZT, do you have any experience with the daw integration function on the fantom? I own Studio One 5, and was looking forward to direct daw integration with the EX upgrade. I've tried EVERYTHING i can think of, but i just can't get the fantom to control studio one 5 like I'm able to with Ableton. Other than daw integration, my fantom works as it should with studio one, sends and receives midi data, audio is there, just can't do the DAW CNTRL function with studio one 5 on my fantom ;(

If I may add that I have an iPad Air that has a USB-C port…..and would hope that the Keystage would run on the appropriate Power block and power the Keystage AND the iPad Air, resulting on no need for the CCK. I would love for Korg to consider making a 76 note Keystage!

I have a Fantom 06 and most of the tutorial does apply to my 06. My question...can I assign my volume pedal (control pedal 1) only to the "master volume" and not affect the volume of each zone that I have set at specific volumes?

Thinking of getting this pedal. Is there a way to make the delay not ping pong while keeping the reverb stereo?

Very usefull and explanatory intro that helps understanding the review approach. Maybe you can help me out with a remaining question: Can I connect two different synths and use delay on one (the left input and output), and reverb on the other (the right input and output) with full seperation of the effect? In other words does this collider truely provide two effect pedals in one?

At first I was a bit bummed at the $199 price tag, but after comparing to the paid upgrades to DAW software it makes sense.
